Accessibility statement

This website is run by OTTO. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it, including the clerks, councillors and residents planning decisions affect. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA.

What we have done

  • Text and background colours are chosen to meet AA contrast throughout.
  • Every interactive element has a visible keyboard focus state and the site is fully keyboard-operable.
  • All animation respects your reduced-motion setting: with it enabled, decorative motion and background effects are replaced by finished static designs.
  • The animated background textures are decorative only, carry no information, and have static fallbacks when WebGL is unavailable.
  • Pages are semantic HTML and work without JavaScript, including forms.
  • Text scales with your browser settings; no information is conveyed by colour alone.

Known limitations

The map of England's planning constraints is a visual summary; the same information is available in text on the pages around it. If you find something that does not work with your assistive technology, we want to know.
